ABOUT
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am painter and human
My name is Roland-Henrich Gotschik, I am a German-Romanian painter, born in 1960 in Romania, the country where I grew up, then living alternately in Germany and Romania.
The exhibitions I had since childhood encouraged me to further develop my skills under the guidance of very demanding teacher-painters, here I would mention Constantin Pușoiu who introduced me to various techniques of plastic expression.
In the 80’s I worked as a church painter and I also started courses at the Popular Arts School in Constanța. but after 1989 I flirted less with art and more with the business environment! A few years ago (8 years ago) I resumed my old passion and after a few group exhibitions in Romania, I had two solo exhibitions in Germany in 2019 and 2020 in Esslingen and I participated in another group exhibition in Stuttgart! Between 2019 and 2020 I participated, sporadically, in some courses at the Kunstakademie Esslingen (Esslingen Academy of Arts), courses that were thwarted by the pandemic.
From the very beginning I was impressed by the customs and traditions of the holidays, especially those of Christmas and New Year in Romania, especially in the area of Moldova, holidays traditionally marked by masks! Many of my paintings reflect masks and faces from Moldova and Bukovina, areas rich in ancestral traditions with pre-Christian roots, and I was also inspired by German masks and traditions from Baden-Württemberg and Bayern. But, on the other hand, I can say that I am strongly anchored in modern abstract art, my painting can be labeled as post-expressionist.
In the meantime, we have sold paintings online in almost all European countries, but also in China, the USA and, over the years, we have noticed that the resale value of the paintings has increased significantly compared to the time of their purchase.
